The Great Sichuan Earthquake

The Great Sichuan Earthquake happened on May 12, 2008 at around 14:48 Beijing Time.  It was measured as 8.0 Ms (surface wave magnitude scale) and a 7.9 Mw (moment magnitude scale).  The earthquake lasted only about two minutes and took the lives of at least sixty-eight thousand people, after three years, thousands are still with out homes and even more are still missing.  Sichuan’s earthquake struck at a depth of nineteen kilometers (twelve miles); its epicenter was located at 31.021 ° N 103.367 ° E (Yingxiu, Wenchuan, Ngawa in the Sichuan Province).
